I’ve sent them back to Zippo before, for service/repair, no charge, just post it to them, the address is on the net.

ZIPPO HUT

The wick is new, and not that absorbent yet, it will “Burn in”, keep lighter damp with fliud, not wet, and YES Zippo will replace it for free if you send it to them.

They usually light the first time, every time. Add more fluid. They’re guaranteed for life:

It may just be the new wick burning in, but Zippos can “vapor lock”…trying to explain, you open it and strike it-you hear a swoosh and a flame but it doesn’t light. Try opening the lighter and swish it up to clear the gases from the lid, then try your strike. Determined lung-cancer getters like myself have a little “flick” we automatically do before we strike. Or like the others said, Zippo has always been happy to fix the lighter for no cost. I’ve had 5 zippos in my life (51), still have two, the others were lost.

open the lid and leave it open for a few seconds before trying to light it. also, once it is lit, let it sit there and burn for about 5 or 10 minutes. then try to light it.
